Bill Lucas FCA JP (Cdec) is a specialist auditor who builds strong and effective working relationships with his clients. His extensive experience in superannuation, his technical expertise, and his excellent communication skills combine to deliver a premium service.

Bill has more than 30 years’ experience as a chartered accountant, working in the superannuation industry from 2004. He was appointed a Fellow of CAANZ in 2013, is a Member of the SMSF Association.
His experience includes auditing, consulting and executive roles in various aspects of the superannuation industry. As a property finance executive for the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) he was the head accountant for an $11 billion property portfolio. He has worked in finance roles with international energy and software companies.

SMSF Expertise

 

Bill has a detailed understanding of the requirements for SMSFs to be compliant and he works closely with his clients, applying a stringent and efficient process to auditing, and utilising specialist software and reporting systems. In particular Bill has dealt with the Australian Tax Office's SMSF technical experts in regard to numerous SIS Act breaches. He is able to liaise with the ATO SMSF specialists through their P2P program which enables hime to ask technical questions on a no-name basis.

 

His SMSF auditing experience includes dealing with funds with complex
and sometimes unusual investments, including:

• warrants, shares and listed unit trusts

• property assets including overseas, residential and commercial

• mortgage loans and joint ventures

• large funds (more than $10 million in assets) with complex investment structures

• livestock, collectible items such as art and coins, and precious gems

• property assets structured with debt, in trusts and direct ownership

• funds with 10 years of returns outstanding
